Note: this project is in “information gathering mode” currently. I will publish some data when I get a critical mass – I’m thinking 100 submissions, at least.
This is a personal/hobby project of Deane Barker.
I’ve always been slightly fascinated at what intranets or portals are named – they all seem to be named something, and the names tend to fit certain patterns. I’m interested in developing an informal repository of these names, both for my personal interest, but also to study patterns and correlations over time.
To be clear: the only thing I’m asking for here is the name of the system. All the other information is optional.
I am purposefully avoiding scholarly rigor here, for the sake of casting a wide net and getting a lot of input. Maybe I’m naive, but I have no reason to believe people will be malicious with their data.
You do not have to currently work at the organization to submit a name. It could be a former employer, or just a system you’re familiar with for whatever reason.
You can submit this form as often as you like, if you know of more than one system or think of more in the future.
I collect no analytics, logs, or data other than what you submit. Unless you provide an email address (it’s optional), I will have no idea who you are.
That said, a couple caveats:
The name of this system will be published publicly sometime in the future. I won’t connect it with you, and I won’t connect it with the organization that runs it (I won’t even know that), but the name itself will be published. I can’t imagine this is a wildly private thing (especially if the identity of the owning organization is not known), but just keep that in mind.
I work for a company called Staffbase. We provide an SaaS intranet platform to our customers. This site is not an official Staffbase project, but the data that is published might end up being having some association with staffbase through my employment. But to be clear: this is not planned to be a marketing exercise for any organization.
Note that this is utterly non-commercial. Any insights or reports from this data will be published publicly, and I will not charge for them. I have no plans to monetize this in any way.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you can fill out the form, and if you have any questions, please reach out: deane@deanebarker.net
